Placebo In Concert

‘A band for outsiders, by outsiders’, as their lead singer once said, Placebo have sold over 10 million records, recorded six studio albums and have seemingly been touring the world consistently for the past decade, headlining festivals and arenas around the world. The band perform on Saturday 28 April with support from Newcastle based up-and-comers SHIELDS, making up one of four nights of music as part of Sundance London.

As a band, we follow our own philosophy of making the music we want to make, putting faith in our songs and records. The Sundance Film Festival has been championing similar likeminded people for over 30 years and encouraging them to put faith in their own talent. Were huge film fans and delighted to be part of the inaugural Sundance London festival.” – Brian Molko

Placebo: Coming Up For Air

After eighteen years as a band, there seems to be no boundary too great to prevent Placebo from performing for an audience. Their ‘Love Us or Hate Us’ attitude matched with their wild stage shows has spawned a devoted global legion of fans.

Charlie Targett-Adams’s Coming Up For Air tracks the band on its eighth world tour following the release of 2009’s Battle for the Sun with this postcard travelogue documenting the eccentric life of a band on tour meeting screaming fans, music journalists and royalty across the world. From epic performances to intimate personal reflections, this backstage look finds a maturing rock group finally open to both personal and professional honesty.

Sundance London is happy to bring together filmmaker Charlie Targett-Adams and the members of the band for a rare theatrical screening of Coming Up For Air and a chance to discuss the past, present and future of Placebo.
